LaShaun Harris: Not First Degree Murder, But Assault

LaShaun Harris, the mentally ill mother who threw her three kids into the San Francisco Bay and blamed it on Jesus, has been found not guilty of murder and guilty of assault. The jury’s still weighing both second-degree murder and manslaughter. The assault charges carry a possible life prison term - but first, during the […]

Lemuel and Julia Redd: Sorry About That Whole “Kidnapping” Thing

No time for a bigger post right now. Thanks for everybody who’s been sending tips; I’ll get to them as time warrants. Meanwhile, remember the case of the Utah parents who kidnapped their daughter to prevent her from getting married? Lemuel and Julia Redd appeared on Good Morning America today and said “sorry” for abducting […]

Daughter’s MySpace Page Busts Dad

From Trench @ MyCrimeSpace: A 12-year-old girl blogs about her dad teaching her to smoke weed and snort blow. Dad gets arrested. Typical American tragedy. Hey, at least this dad waited until his daughter hit puberty. That’s better than some parents we can mention.

Parents Keep Girl Small to Treat Her

I know a lot of people want me to blog about Ashley, the girl whose parents are keeping her body small in a radical bid to give her better treatment. Ashley has a crippling disease known as static encephalopathy; her mom and dad have chosen for the severely retarded girl to have a hysterectomy and […]

Chris Young Sentenced for Nearly Driving Kids off Cliff

Chris Young, the dad who came within feet of driving off of a cliff with all of his kids in the car with him, pleaded guilty to second-degree felony child abuse after his jury trial deadlocked. He’s been sentenced for 1 to 15 years in prison for his crime. Personally, I’m hoping for something closer […]

Trenton Duckett Case Update

The suit by Melinda Duckett’s parents against Nancy Grace, accusing the CNN host of berating poor Melinda into suicide, has been moved to federal court. The move came at the behest of CNN and Grace. Meanwhile, followers of the case over on CourtTV’s message boards are lamenting the lack of a “Christmas miracle”. You’re not […]

Durnk Driving with Kids in Arkansas Now Double the Pain

Arkansas has passed a law increasing the amount of time you’ll spend in jail if you drive drunk with someone 16 or younger in the car. First-time offenders will now spend 7 days in jail, instead of the usual 24 hours. I’ll bet Jamie Marie Rosen is thanking her lucky stars she lives in Arizona.

Definition of “Loser”: Man Borrows Child Support Money from His Parents, Fails to Repay

I offer, without comment, this Q&A column from South Carolina’s State newspaper, in which a 70-year-old couple ask how to handle their son defaulting on a $40,000 loan. Apparently, he needed the moolah “to pay his past due child support, his lawyer, his former wife’s alimony, and to keep him out of jail.” Yep, he […]

Tony Camacho Stabbed Daughter before Burning Her

The Tony Camacho case gets more and more sick. The autopsy of his daughter Crystal shows that Camacho stabbed her before he set the fire; the wound was so vicious, it severed the girl’s spine. That’s sick - not to mention bizarre. Why would he stab his daughter, but leave himself and his son to […]

Mary and Christopher Hansche Strike a Plea in Eaten-Baby Case

Mary and Christopher Hansche, the parents whose baby’s toes were bitten off by one of their animals, have copped a plea deal to participate in parenting classes. They also have to give up custody of both their ferret and pit bull. Good call: anyone whose baby gets used as pet food ought to lose that […]
