Parents Behaving Badly

Christopher Klein Suffocates Girlfriend’s Infant Daughter to Death

by Former Blogger on March 2nd, 2008

In Nebraska, Christopher Mathes Klein, 2o, gave his girlfriend’s seven-week-old daughter, Caitlynne Bohlen, a pacifier. Then he wrapped her face tightly with a blanket and squished her against the side of her bassinet with a pillow. The baby was found not to be breathing and was taken to the hospital by paramedics. Caitlynne died shortly after at the hospital.

Klein claims to been taught this technique by the baby’s mom, Tiffany Ann Bohlen, 19. (Klein is not the dad.) At this time authorities don’t know if they did this to the baby to quiet her or to intentially harm her. They didn’t find any external injuries, but are waiting on the results of the autopsy.

Bohlen is facing a charge of aiding and abetting child abuse resulting in death. The D.A. has told the judge that he expects to change the charge to at least manslaughter.

Klein was charged for violating the Sex Offender Registration Act for not registering his new address after he moved. He also has two other warrants out for his arrest in Minnesota - one for checks and one for violating his probation as a sex offender. Sounds like a real winner and just the guy I’d want me and my baby to shack up with.

Both Klein and Bohlen are being held on bond of 10 percent of $250,000.

    Sick.

Honestly, you get a new boyfriend, look up the sex offender registry!

I hope they put this guy in general population.

“He wrapped her face tightly with a blanket and squished her against the side of her bassinet with a pillow.”

How in the hell could he claim that her death was unintentional? Where was his common sense?

Sounds like they were trying to keep the baby quiet. When will these losers get the message that babies CRY. It’s their only means of communication. If you can’t stand to hear a baby crying then DON’T HAVE ONE!

And frankly, this woman must have a brain the size of a chiclet. She gets knocked up by one guy she’s not married to, who apparently doesn’t stick around, and then she goes out and finds herself a sex offender for a NEW boyfriend. Again, the desire for dick trumps the maternal instinct.

Lock them both up as being too stupid to be allowed out in society and throw away the cell.

Wow, another case where having a boyfriend is more important than anything. Maybe there need to be some special classes in high school for this. I’m sure a lot of girls are too smart to get into a situation like this, but apparently more needs to be done to reach the ones who seem to have no common sense.

I am a single mother of a 3 1/2 yr old boy. Since his father and I split up I have not been with another man nor have I allowed any men in my home except for one that is a dear friend of ours but even that is strictly platonic.

So in my case - as ‘IhaveKidstoo” so eloquently stated - the desire for dick does NOT trump my instinct for motherhood. My son has always and will always come first in my life over any man - EVER. I could care less if I were to remain alone for the rest of my life, as long as I know my son is being raised in a safe, healthy and happy environment.

I’ve lived my life - had my fun and did my thing. It is now my responsibility to raise my son so that he too can have a chance to live his life. I think what a lot of mothers fail to realize is that the first real relationship their sons have with a women is with that of his Mom. How you nurture that relationship will determine how your son’s future relationships with women will be. This of course does not just apply to mothers with sons. The way a woman carries herself and allows herself to be treated by men will reflect on your daughters. They will think this is acceptable behavior and not know enough to want more out of life.

My heart bleeds for this innocent child who never hand a chance. God be with her.

Wow. They sound like quite a pair. He’s a douche BAG and she’s a hoe BAG. At least she won’t have to change her last name. Why do these idiots not use birth control??? IMHO - It just seems like a better idea than MURDER!!

I think that he’s blaming her just to get off the hook. Im sort of torn in two. Give the mom a lie detector test, and arrest him for murder and his other chargers. I think its absolutely ridiculous that a mother would let a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER near her baby. I wonder if the father knew this? I wonder if the father even knows he’s a father…

HesMySunshine, kudos to you for putting your child first! There should be more single moms like you and then we would see far fewer of these sad stories.

My son is 3 and if something happened to his father or we split up for some reason, I would remain alone. Like you said, I’ve had my fun and lived my life. It’s all about him now. I think a lot of women probably resent that when their relationship with their child’s father ends, the man can go off and have another relationship without necessarily putting the child at risk. But because the kids are usually with the mom, any new man she brings into her life automatically gets access to the kids as well.

HesMySonShine, I know how hard being a parent is, but doing it all by yourself takes more courage and strength than many people have. I’m so happy for your son (he has a loving and devoted mommy). In your position though, I could see myself doing the same thing. I don’t have problems with single parents dating, but I think I would choose to keep those two parts of my life completely seperate.

Alexandra, I’ll do you one better. I’m married to my childrens father (I’ve always checked out guys I dated including him), but when my child went to daycare I demanded a list of employees at the center and checked them all on the sex offenders list. I know it seems a little extreme, but I’ve always been an overprotective mom.

This sounds like an even more messed up version of the old trick of giving a baby alcohol till it passed out peacefully. That tactic was widely used and shared not so long ago.

Amazes me what people have to go through to adopt from another country but anyone can get knocked up and parent as they please.

I don’t know where to put this *does not pertain to this post* but has any one out there heard of this ? a local mom in my area used a high pressure hose for washing cars at a self car wash on her 2 year old daughter to “calm her down after a tantrum”. They only just now arrested her. It was on video so they had to find her. AND ON TOP OF THAT, the bitch is 5 months pregnant.
I’ve been hit with one of those, it stings. Its not like death causing but you see in the video she’s spraying the kid it the face with it!

thats the link for it. And it seriously happened..not 5 streets away from my house. LORD if I saw that while walking down the street I’d turn the hose right on her and see how she liked it… Maybe its blog worthy for you guys??

If for some reason my husband and I were to split up I would not have any desire to be with another. My kids come first and formost but, not to mention men are irratating and quite frankly I don’t want to put up with another one. My 2 little men are enough for me.

Here is a piece of advice….baby crying to much?? GO OUTSIDE!! Try that. Shut the door. Make sure they have a clean diaper a full belly and go get some fresh air. Check the mail….call mom…..call dad…..hell take a nice hot shower and a little nap. I promise it works wonders!!
