Too many kids in the car? Put them in your trunk!
Well that’s what this couple did.
Jerrod Griffin Sr. and Khonda Griffin are now both being charged with felonies after driving with two of their children in the trunk of their car.
Apparently this couple has too many kids to fit in the car. So they thought stuffing them in their trunk would be cool.
Well it wasn’t… and now all 5 of their kids have been taken away.
Obviously these parents were thinking about just solving their seating issues. They weren’t throwing their kids in the trunk to torture of punish them. And besides this, they’re probably great parents…
But mistakes like this are going to get their kids taken away from them. The kids are currently in protective custody and they’re both facing up to 3-years in prison.
You shouldn’t have to be told not to put your kids in the trunk. But I’ll say it anyway… please parents, don’t put your kids in the trunk!

Better idea would have been for one of them to stay home with the kids. Or better yet, find someone to watch the kids while they went out and did what they had to do. Good rule of thumb here is if there aren’t enough seatbelts for ever “body” (baby, child, adult, etc…) in the vehicle, make other arrangements…take a bus, walk, whatever, but do not put your kids in the trunk!!!!! Makes me want to walk up to them and bop them both on the forhead like in the V8 commercials….DUH!!!

What’s killing me is someone had to say “I know– Let’s put two in the trunk!” and someone else had to say “Hey, yeah that’s a good idea! Why didn’t we think of that before?”

April RJ, I have to take offense to your statement. I’m a good ol’ redneck girl, born and raised (one that always makes sure my babies are buckled into a car seat).
morriganreighn, I wish these two idiots put together, had half the common sense as you, and could have come up with just one of the many smart suggestions that you made. This seems like a no duh to me, too. Also, I love the reference to the V8 commercials (they’re funny).

I will from now on refer to these two as Ethel and Cletus. Let’s hope this experience will lead to some good for them, their children, and anyone else who might have considered this sort of thing a good idea.
Or at least scare the stupid out of them.

The dad looks like he did not want to do it honestly. The mom has this “fuck you i’ll strap my kids to the top of the roof if I want to.”

maminka1979 - Just to clarify - I am from Texas. If you took offense to the redneck comment - I appologize. If you are from the “south” you know there is a difference between a “country” person and a redneck. I still say that Cletus and Ethel here look pretty inbred and probably should be breeding.

I don’t know what to say on this one. I just can’t imagine…OK, the van’s broke down and we just ran out of spots for the kids, wow, here’s an idea, let’s put a couple of ‘em in the trunk. The news article is amazing “They are good parents…made a mistake…she cries and everything”
I will say this, I sure hope the authorities don’t break up the 5 kids into different foster homes.

April RJ I am from trash hayseed rednecks and *didn’t* take offense at all. And yes, my parents in their infinite wisdom were just as idiotic when it came to their kids and safety. The difference between these two and my parents were that these two got caught endangering their children.
Loving_mom I think Ethel is recoiling from the flash during her mug shot, and not making a f-you face. Cletus looks hypnotized and scared sh*tless.
This sounds like pure ignorance at first, then you consider how freakin’ scary a car trunk is (not to mention uncomfortable) and that these people willingly put a 4 year old and an 8 year old in it. Then it becomes a whole new scale of wrong and screwed up.
I just thank God that the neighbor reported it, and the car wasn’t rear ended before they were stopped. This story could have been tragic.

April RJ, I accept your appology. The term redneck was coined when a group of West Virginia miners marched from the northern part of the state to the south to fight for the right of miners to join the union and not live under the oppression of the large companies that made their lives hell. I’m proud that my great grandmothers’ grandfather marched with those men, and I’m proud that I still have that “hot” blood that makes me see something wrong and stand up against it. I just don’t associate that pride with the stupidity of these two “parents”.

Sorry about the rant. I have nothing against you, and I’m not mad. I just have a thing about the term redneck because my Gram (great grandmother) was so proud of her grandfather and she passed that on to us. I’m sorry April RJ.

I don’t see anything wrong with this.. LOL add another couple of parents to the list of reasons why people should pass a test before being allowed to breed.

No worries - I’m not here to offend anyone. My guess is that we are all here for the same reason. You do have to admit that these two look backwards… That was all I meant.

Let me get this straight–They had two vans and a car?
Why didn’t they just sell the car and fix at least one of the vans?
(You might be a redneck if less than half the cars you own actually run!)
