Marcos Gomez-Romero Charged with Murder of his Four-Month-Old Daughter
Marcos Gomez-Romero, 28, is being charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of his infant daughter, Ariana Rodriguez Romero.
An autopsy showed that Ariana had five new rib fractures, and 15 old rib fractures. She also had a bruised liver, a bruised spleen, a black eye, and bruises all over her body.
Why did Marcos kill his daughter? Because he wanted a boy.
He told investigators that every time he looked at the baby, he became angry because she was a girl. He would call his daughter ugly and a prostitute (an infant!) and would try to deny that she was his daughter.
He told police that he would grab the baby, jerk her around, and press down on her rib cage. He also slapped her on the ribs when she was sleeping. Abusing her became a habit, he said.
The child’s mother, Juana Rodriguez, said that Marcos would take the baby in the bedroom and close the door. Shortly afterward she would hear their daughter begin to cry. He told her he’d leave with their two-year-old son if she called police.
I don’t know lady. How about you take the kids to the park and then call 911 to get your scumbag boyfriend arrested? If you were a little less passive and cared about your child more than your so-called man maybe your daughter would be alive.

WTF?!?!?! Look at this man! Can you imagine what his angry face looks like?! *shudders* Poor baby girl must’ve been terrified! Infants are so helpless! If I were his neighbor, I would’ve gladly invaded his house, shoot him in the head, and rescue that poor, helpless baby girl cuz you know what?! That makes me mad! That asshat doesn’t deserve the fucking opportunity to procreate ever again! If you don’t want any babies, no matter what gender they are, then you’d better keep your damn stupid cowardly legs crossed all the time because if that blissfully sadistic fucker doesn’t want his poor defenseless daughter, then he should’ve given her up for adoption instead of hurting and killing her! You see, we had a family friend who never beat her own daughter, thank God for that! She and her husband used to occasionally spank her instead, though, but they were extremely careful enough that they made sure that they did it with care. That monster does not deserve to have anymore kids ever again, so I hope that his inmates would beat him to death! Even inmates hate child abusers!

Well said, donnam! He sure is a warped and wretched beast of a man who always enjoyed the psychological and physical pain of his own daughter! Let’s make damn sure that his inmates would give him the same treatment that he gave to his daughter! So remember my own opinion: If an adult hurts the child, the same should be done to an adult. If an adult rapes a child, he/she should be raped! If an adult burns the child, he/she should be burned. If an adult beats the child, he/she should be beaten! If an adult murders a child, he/she should be put to death forever! But that asshole only beat and killed his own daughter! Child abuse permanently kills a child’s soul and there is now way of turning back and restoring the child’s innocence!

And PLEASE don’t anyone come to her defense with the “she was a victim too” crap. If you want to live as a victim, that’s fine but you DON’T allow anyone to victimize your children, no matter what.

I don’t know that I have ever felt to wretched for a little baby. This is one of the few times I think death penalty is OK. However, why does it always devolve to HATE for the mother when a man kills a child? I think it is important to note that this little baby is dead in a large part due to MISOGYNY (hatred of females) so it is ironic (and totally unhelpful) to assume the mother, who has paid the price for her association with this wretched beast of a man, is responsible. Domestic abuse is very real, and we cannot know what was going on in that house but to constantly assume that a grieving devastated mother is even remotely as guilty as the *actual perpetrator* is just letting men off the hook and continuing the anti-female attitude that defines this man. I know first hand the terrorism that many many american women live under every day and I have no doubt that this man controlled and battered everyone in that family. HE is the perp, remember.

He beat her becasue she was not a boy. Well you know I wanted all of my children to be boys but, I have 2 boys and 1 girl. You know what? My daughter is my world. She is only 9 months old but, I have a relationship with her that I value and one that A LOT of mothers don’t have. I cherish that. I am going to be honest. I don’t blmae the mother nor do I hate her but, she needs to grow some balls. I am sorry if my husband were to beat our daughter because she was a girl he would be dead. I don’t mean that as a threat that is a promise. I would stab him in his sleep and then call the police and tell them why. I would not be able to listen to my child scream as my husband pressed down on her ribs.

itsmecathy, I would feel the non-murdering spouse was just as guilty if this were a situation where the MOTHER killed the child and the FATHER knew of the abuse and failed to protect the child. A parent who stands by and allows someone else - especially their spouse/significant other - to harm and kill their child should pay for their inaction.
And once again, don’t give me the “she was abused too” crap. I have a cousin who hooked up with a man who beat her constantly for years. She thought having a baby would turn him around and of course it didn’t. But even after years of swallowing his abuse, the instant he showed violent tendencies towards their baby she LEFT his sorry ass, despite all his threats that he’d hill her and the baby. The danger to her child spurred her to action when her own sense of self preservation didn’t.
My feeling that the mother shares guilt in this has nothing to do with misogyny. It has to do with anger at a parent - of either sex - who failed in his/her primary role to protect his/her child.

My husband wanted a son and has two daughters (whom according to him hung the moon). That man would walk a million miles just to see them smile. I am a critic of the death penalty, but this site is quickly changing my mind.

Well, you know what? It’s the MAN’S SPERM that decides the sex of the child so if he thought that a girl was a “second-class child” or whatnot, he should have ripped his balls off and punished himself, because it was his OWN FAULT that she was a girl and not a boy! Ha!
What is it with men who act like they aren’t a “real man” if they don’t produce a son anyways? I have never understood that. This isn’t the 19th century, where boys were practically required to carry on the family business or whatnot; in this day and age, there isn’t too much that women cannot do much the same as men can.
He just plain looks like a prick. I hope, too, that the inmates will get wind of what he did to his baby, all because she wasn’t born a boy. So sad.

A friend of mine grew up with a father who beat her and her older sister. The younger sister called Social Services on the father, and the older sister started shunning her. As far as Big Sister was concerned, Little Sister shouldn’t have provoked him. Big Sister later had boyfriends who beat her, and always made excuses for them. She married a man who didn’t beat her, but she still argued that Little Sister was the one in the wrong.
Then two years ago, Little Sister gets a call from Big sister. Big sister apologizes. Big Sister agrees that the father is a bad man, she should never have taken his side over hers.
What changed? Big Sister was pregnant. Big Sister visited her parents, and the father tried to hit her. Big Sister didn’t care when it was just her getting hit, but when she thought of her baby being treated that way. . . Well, Father had a black eye, and Big and Little Sister are spending the holidays together instead of Little Sister alone, and Big Sister and parents. They call each other every day now.
Now, I’ve never been abused by my spouse, so I am very cautious about judging people in that situation. (My husband quietly sits and reasons with our cat while the cat’s inch long razor sharp talons are burried in his forearm. He doesn’t even raise his voice, beyond the occasional yelp of pain.)
Still, I think that a parent has a responsibility to protect their child no matter what happens to them. Before I knew Big Sister and Little Sister, I wouldn’t have thought this way. They gave me important perspective:
I’ve seen how good parents change their tune towards abusers, once their children are involved.
There is one thing that really puzzles me (The rest can be explained with “the man is an inhuman monster”):
He had a boy, and he was still so hostile to the idea of having a girl. It’s not like his “virility” wasn’t already proven. So I’m wondering where the hostility towards women came from. His mother has much to answer for. He does as well, but I’m curious as to what creates a monster like this.
Little Sister hated men because of what her father did to her. I wonder if it was a more extreme version of that. (Little Sister, of course, has gotten therapy and no longer blames all men for the actions of one, but that was her instinct and she worked for years to get over it. She never was even RUDE to boy children, let alone hit them. She just found herself having to consciously work to make herself treat them fairly.)

You know, my dh actually HOPED we would have a girl as our first child! His reasoning was that in his observation, families that have girls as firstborns tend to have a lot fewer broken items in their homes ;) Dh was the oldest of three boys and he said that the things they came up with to do in the house when mom wasn’t looking could fill a book. Also, being that his parents had three boys and never had the experience of a daughter, he really hoped that he could give them a granddaughter.
Well, we gave them THREE granddaughters and a grandson, so the girls in our house outnumber the boys (but that might change as I am expecting again). He is GLAD that we have a son because he did hope for at least one son, but he told me if we produced only girls, it wouldn’t bother him a bit. It doesn’t seem to have wounded his “manhood” that he made more girls than boys.
But of course my dh isn’t a Neanderthal, either, like some men are!

I think this useless jerk’s death sentence should be getting turned loose in g-pop. Death by 1,000 pissed off lifers would be be a good start.
Also, in abusive families, there is always the ’sacrifice’ - the one who gets the abuse. I remember in my own case vividly asking why nobody said or did anything when the abuse was going on. My shrink said that it’s because it wasn’t happening to them, and because they could comfort me after and feel like the good guys. It makes a very sick sort of sense. :(

itsmecathy, you have got to be kidding right??A child is both the mother and father’s responsibility. That baby can’t defend or take care of herself. This mother knew that he was abusing the baby and she did nothing to stop it. She didn’t touch the baby but she is guilty for not stopping it. You can’t tell me that she couldn’t have gotten help. If my husband was hurting our children in any way, I would NEVER just stand by and let it happen. Maybe she was scared but that is no excuse. These women are attracted to these jerks for some reason. Any level headed woman would not want a man who treats them like crap. She wouldn’t have to be grieving if she would have gotten those kids out of there. Was she forced at gunpoint to associate with this jerk?? No. It wasn’t like he was this charming generous loving nice guy then one day he changed. Yes, this mother is GUILTY in this baby’s death. Yes, she should go to prison. Yes, yes, yes her son should be taken away from her. Hopefully the courts will give him to a loving family and he’ll grow up NEVER KNOWING the animal who sired him and murdered his sister or the worthless excuse for a “mother” who didn’t protect his sister.

Ever since I read this, it’s been on my mind. I can’t imagine what all he did to that little baby, I don’t want to. What I read was horrible enough. You have to be a monster to do something like that. What I would like to know is why didn’t they give her up for adoption. There are so many people out there who would love to have a baby GIRL to love.

Since I read this story last week, I can not get it out of my mind, I can’t believe how this little girl suffer, that fucking bastard deserves to die, so does that stupid woman, I can’t imagine letting some prick abuse my baby girl and me no do anything about it, I’m a small woman but there are plenty of sutff in the house to use as weapons to defend myself and my love ones.

I don’t understand how she, as a mother, could sit and listen to that pig shut the door, know what he was doing (because she said that he would carry the baby by the hands, shut the door, and the baby would start crying) and DO NOTHING. She is as guilty as he is. Both of them are monsters.

I almost cried after reading this. It’s just ridiculous and sickening to hear about these kind of things occuring. Some people are just so heartless. In this situation I am just extremely upset with the mother of the infant. Of course ultimately the infants father is to blame since he killed her but the mother is also very much at fault here. I don’t believe for a minute that she didn’t know what was going on. That baby had to be screeching from that kind of pain. Not only that, this didn’t occur just once. All she had to do was call the police. Who gives a fukk what he said he’s gonna do. I would have taken my kids and moved the hell out of there on top of calling the police. She put her man before her baby. I wish I could understand the minds of these kind of people so I could help them because it’s just so unclear to me how they could think like this. R.I.P. Baby Ariana.

What bothers me the most about this is that the bitch who carried this precious baby for nine months KNEW he was hurting her and DID NOTHING. What is it with stupid women like that? Even if she was afraid of him, couldn’t she have left, snuck away with her child when he went to work or wherever he went? GOD, I AM SO PISSED ABOUT THIS ONE.

Guess he will know what its like to be beaten so badly and get the “proper”, welcome by his fellow inmates for being so cruel to a little baby. My heart breaks for that tiny little angel. She stood no chance, but I know deep down inside that God has her now and she will never have to feel that kind of terror or hurt again. I do believe also that Karma is gonna suck big time for the father.
