Parents Behaving Badly

Drug Addict KillsThree-Year-Old Stepdaughter for Vomiting on Herself

by Former Blogger on November 24th, 2007

j0386468.jpgAnd you thought parents only behaved badly in the U.S. This story comes from Melbourne, Australia where a three-year-old Liliana Lam’s stepfather, Phong Gia Quach, 23, flew into a rage and crushed her against the edge of a bathroom sink.

Quach, a drug addict, said he never intended to hurt his stepdaughter. He told told police he only wanted to scare the three-year-old into obeying him. He has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Seems that Lilian was so sick that she continually vomited on herself and not into a bucket as Quach told her to do. She was also closing her eyes when he had told her not to go to sleep.

So this lousy excuse of a human being got mad and put Liliana on the floor. Then he pushed on her stomach with both hands, picked her up, and pushed her forcefully over the edge of the sink basin.

The next day the little girl died less than an hour after being taken to the hospital. Liliana died from acute internal blood loss and blunt force trauma to the abdomen. She also had several bruises to the head, chest and back.

Quach and Liliana’s mother, Dieu Lam, were heavy heroin users amd also used “ice” or meth, and possibly crack. They lived at Dieu Lam’s grandparents home. Liliana shared a room with her 18-year-0ld aunt who acted as her primary carer when she was not at school.

Photographs of the parents’ room showed drug paraphernalia and bottles filled with urine. (They were too high to go to the bathroom.) Why the grandparents put up with this, I don’t know. I think they’re also to blame - along with Lilian’s mother - for letting this monster stay in their home and abuse this little girl.

(Thanks to Brent S. for the story.)

Oh, “he never intended to hurt her.” Yeah, whatever. She was three years old and he did all of that to her. What the fuck did he think was going to happen? Damn, that pisses me off. What a piece of shit.

Seriously, drugs need to have something put in them that sterilizes the users. Those assholes don’t care about anything but their next high. How can you hurt a sick baby? Any parent knows that when your baby is sick all you want to do is make them better. Especially at that age they are so pitiful and helpless when they are that sick.

I agree with Anne-Marie. Every adult in this home should be prosecuted. Standing by and allowing this to happen should be a crime.

I have never done drugs, well tried pot a couple times but that was it. I can’t see how people would want to live their life high on drugs instead of being normal so to speak. It just makes no sense to me. Once again, a poor innocent child suffers at the expense of an idiot adult. It really tests your faith. I believe in God, yet I ask why??? I feel that these children are here to try and get across to us that this is what drugs and violence do to you. It hurts the innocent and the future adults. Yet it doesn’t stop!!! How can people be so selfish. A child and his or her well being should take priority over everything else in your life. It’s a terrible shame. I agree with rockdoll, he did intend to hurt her, otherwise he wouldn’t have done what he did.

“Seriously, drugs need to have something put in them that sterilizes the users.”

ITA, Kathy, my dh is always saying the same thing, that he would fully support illicit drugs becoming legal as long as they were laced with BIRTH CONTROL drugs! That way you are only screwing up your own life and not an innocent child’s.

This poor baby, and to beat her when she is SICK?! Goodness, I feel so bad for my children when they are sick; it breaks my heart. I cannot imagine punishing one of them for not puking into the bowl or the toilet. I don’t even want to SAY all the evil things that I would like to do to this guy.

What is bothering me is why is he charged with manslaughter and not murder? Did he or did he not murder this child with his force? Funny how he did not “intend” to do but admits to doing it to her before in other articles……in other articles it also says she had an injury to her abdomen just six weeks prior in which this asshole was the prime suspect but it could not be proved…..how weak are those who pray on the young and innocent and in this case obviously ill. RIP Liliana

This realy breaks my heart. My almost three year old, Isabella, and my nine month old, Lillian, are just getting over the stomach flu. While I’m up late doing the mountains of laundry left over from the extreme amount of vomit, I remember the last five days of trying to comfort my angels. I can’t look at their peaceful sleeping faces and imagine giving them anything but tlc and compasion while they were sick. My oldest missed the bucket countless times during this flu and I can’t imagine anyone hurting her for it (when I was pregnant with both of them I vomited the whole time and missed a few myself). I feel so sorry for this baby (not just the way she died but also for how much she must have suffered when she lived). Lily is crying and I have a need to hold her and kiss her and cherish her the way this baby should have been.

How could this sick twisted man look this innocent little child in the face and do this to her. This shit is sick and I hope it haunts him for the rest of his miserable worthless life.

It is pretty clear he was not trying to kill her. He was delusional and was trying to squeeze the vomit out of her into the sink. The thing is he not only was not thinking rationally but ALSO had no judgment of his strength. Thus the manslaughter as in drunk driving. As proof of this irrationality think of how much more difficult it is to pee into a bottle than to stagger to the bathroom. (At least I’d find hitting a 1-2 inch hole more difficult to control. Maybe that is just me.)

I think in Australia he might end up effectively rehabbed as I don’t think they let drugs in. (Many state prisons US do as unwritten policy to keep prisoners from rioting with fewer guards and to thin their numbers). Otherwise I say “manslaughter with no prospects of a useful future life” should be a death reward.
