Parents Behaving Badly

Christina Blanco Arrested in Death of 13-Month-Old Son Peter Blanco

by Former Blogger on November 10th, 2007

christina-blanco.jpgIn Tuscon, Arizona, Christina A. Blanco, 22,  was charged with first degree murder in the July death of her infant son, Peter. She also faces a child abuse charge.

According to police, the 13-month-old boy died last July 14 when Blanco left him and his four-year-old sister in the care of her boyfriend, Alvaro Andres Ramos-Cardenas, 24 for several hours that morning. About 9:30 a.m., Ramos-Cardenas told Blanco that the baby wasn’t breathing. They called 911.

Emergency personnel took the unresponsive baby to hospital. He died two days later. The baby’s multiple injuries were found to be consistent with child abuse - a fractured skull, brain bleeding and a lacerated liver. Blanco and Ramos-Cardenas told police that Peter stopped breathing after he fell down.

alvaro-andres-ramos-cardenas.jpgBlanco’s boyfriend, Alvaro Andres Ramos-Cardenas, 24, was arrested following the baby’s death in July. He also faced one count of child abuse after Peter’s four-year-old sister told police that he gave her a bruise on her cheek and a burn on her leg.

Bail for Blanco was set at $100,000. Ramos-Cardenas was released from jail under the supervision of the court’s Pretrial Services Program. The newspapers reported that the whereabouts of Peter’s sister are unknown.

Let’s keep an eye on this case, shall we? I hope both the “mother” and her wonderful (NOT!) boyfriend get the maximum and are put away for a long time.

Another couple with that “F*CK YOU” look on their faces. They should rot in prison. I would be curious to know where the little girl is and how she is doing. To lose a sibling at such a young age has to be traumatic. Poor baby.

I always wonder about that, too, when I read these stories. I always feel so horrible for the remaining siblings of these unfortunate children. It is traumatic for a child to be separated from a parent, even if the parent is a total monster and removal NEEDS to happen. A few days ago when I read about Johni Michelle Heuser and that her other three children were removed when the baby died and I saw their pictures on her Myspace page, my heart went out to them. Goodness, they are so young, they may have been being neglected, their baby sister died, and now they are in a strange house (and sometimes foster parents aren’t any better than the parents who the children were removed from, sadly). So heartbreaking.

Can’t explain the abuse…who can? FYI sister doing well, adapting day by day. Hasn’t been with the mother since Peter was in hospital, better for her. That is all about that..

mnm - Thanks for the update. I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say that. Hopefully she is loved and no one will ever hurt her again…
