12-year-old boy chained in outside shed, beaten with hammer and metal pole
I don’t know how this could have gone unnoticed for so long, as the boy was covered in scars from head to toe, having numerous marks on his face, back and abdomen. The abuse should have been very easy to identify by just taking one look at the boy.
The father told police he would bring the abuse to her attention, but didn’t do anything else to prevent it.
Fortunately, in this case they’ve decided to make “doing nothing about it” a crime and are prosecuting the father for child neglect.
I hope this charge sticks. If you passively allow this kind of abuse to continue, you might as well be contributing to it yourself.

ARGH!!! WTF is wrong with these people?? The father knew??? “Oh, honey - Don’t you think that beating our son severely is going a little overboard??” Coward. He could have taken the boy away, maybe call the cops. He deserves a punishment identical to his BITCH wife!!!

OMG. I can’t even believe this. It sounds so much like a horror movie. That poor little boy. They are only charging her with aggrivated child abuse. That sounds so minor when you read about all the injuries that she inflicted upon him.

What, no excuse? I mean not that there is an excuse for doing all that but most of these people seem to offer up some lame excuse for beating their kids.

Why is she unnamed? Identify her! Show her face. Parade her down the street so every one can see what the devil looks like.
She tortured and humiliated him. His own mother. Isn’t there a specific charge for that?

Hell yeah! Show her face! Why is she to be protected?!!! God, that pisses me off.

Who turned these people in? That boy was so frightened it too several interviews with the police before he would admit what his mother was doing to him. It sounds like that book, “A Child Called It”. Did the neighbors notice the boy chained up in the back yard and call the police? I’m glad he is away from these abusers (both of them), but now I worry what kind of man he will grow up to be. Will his hatred for his mother turn him into a serial killer? Will he marry someone someday who abuses him like his mother did?

In my state “aggravated” added to a crime equates to “armed”.
So Aggravated assault would be assault with a weapon. So I am thinking it should be a much more severe charge and penalty. We can only hope.
that said, I think I’m pretty much speechless. this is horrible. I agree it’s like something out of a horror movie. I’ve heard stories of abused dogs being treated better.

Shel - That was the saddest book I ever read. I was amazed by the end of the book that he survived and told the story of his abuse. You never thing that these things could really happen, but they do. It sickens me that there are so many people that have little or NO regard for these children’s lives. BLEH!

I read the book by Dave Pelzer. I still have it in my bookcase somewhere. I cried and cried. He almost didn’t make it but thank God that he did. He is an inspiration.

I still can’t forget that horrible chemical concoction his mother use to put together in the bathroom and lock him in there with it. Was it bleach and ammonia? I think I created that same thing on myself once when I was a young wife cleaning the house! It was horrible! I can’t imagine being locked into the bathroom with it!!! In that case as well, the father did nothing but complain to the mother that “it needs to stop”. I just don’t understand how long this must have been going on. He was 12! Does that mean he’s been dealing with her abuse all his life or did she snap one day and the abuse began? Has he ever know the loving touch of a mother before? I wonder what his foster parents will have to deal with. Will he rage and act out or will he be submissive and frightened?

Shel - I think it was bleach and ammonia. It created a sort of “gas”.
This boy is going to need a lot of love. A 12 year old boy has enough “regular” issues. This one is going to have those plus a few extra. it is going to take a special foster parent to help this child. He is going to need SOOOOO much love and guidance. Who knows - Maybe he has a strong soul and he’ll be just fine. With any luck - His crazy ass parents will NEVER see him again. That should help.

OMG! I haven’t checked this site in some time, but when I did and saw this story it made me sick at my stomach. I just don’t get “it”! I have a 4 year old and I feel guilty when I have to verbally discipline her for anything. I can’t believe people can do such cruel things to poor innocent children. God bless that poor child.

Michelle;
My theory is that some people are not supposed to be parents, but they don’t use birth control because they are too lazy and have too much ego to admit that they shouldn’t have children.
These are the same people who are convinced that being a parent practically makes you the owner of the child, rather than that child’s protector. These are the same people who perpetuate the myth that Social Services is some giant slavering cooperation that is looking for any excuse to steal the children of good, upright, citizens.
I’ve met these people, and seen the effect they have on the children they fail to raise. The children usually live in fear of the outside world. The one that is trying to steal them from their “loving” mommy and daddy. As children get older, that’s the only way to keep the child under control, and thus keep the child from discovering the parent’s inadequacy.
At the risk of being called a monster, I nominate this woman for a tubal ligation. She’s just demonstrated an inability to parent, and I don’t think her “right” to have children trumps her potential children’s right to not be abused.
Some people simply don’t deserve children.

I can’t believe how many people thought about A Child Called it. I immediately thought,” Dave Pelzer.” I read all of the books in his series. I too can not believe nothing was done earlier.

I’ve never read the book, but bleach and ammonia mixed is the basis for mustard gas (used to kill troops during WWII). I have to agree with Kitty on this one (I vote sterilization without painkillers).

Sorry, I meant I’ve never got to read the book.

After reading these blogs I went and bought the book and finished reading it yesterday. I am horrified that in his situation NOONE around would do anything about what was being done to that poor chiild. I’m horrified because I know it’s reality and this goes on all the time without ANYONE doing anything to stop it. It truly breaks my heart and I wish there was more that I could to do.
