Bobby Lynn Curtis burns 2-year-old in dryer
Bobby Lynn Curtis, 27, became frustrated with his girlfriends 2-year-old daughter during bath time. With mom out of the house, like a pair of wet socks, he tossed little girl in the dryer that was already running and hot.
Becoming scared after seeing burns on her arms, and hoping she would forget, he put the child to bed and did not tell anyone what he had done.
Well, I’m sure the burns didn’t go unnoticed by the mother as the child spilled the beans the next morning, earning Bobby a quick ride to the jail house.
He does sound sorry for what he’s done, but I just don’t think that’s enough to save him from the 5 to 99 years sentence he is currently facing.
Thanks to Arnie and Syndee for this tip.

:o) I’m first! YIPEEE
I applaud this woman for standing up and doing what was right. I think so many people have insignificant fears or justifications. It is nice to read a story here that will hopefully end right!

He looks like he’s forcing his “tears” for the media, I think he’s sorry he got caught and has to now pay the piper, and his whole story of he didn’t know what came over him, well, if it was insanity, then he wouldn’t have been hoping she would forget what happened and tell someone, he knew what he did was wrong because he got her out of the dryer, so there was some conscious thinking going on there! It seems everyone is using the “mental” issue now to excuse themselves for their actions, and yet it’s funny most of these crimes are “copycat” kind of crimes that we hear about on the tv all the time…microwaves, dryers, etc. I think we need to invest more in mental hospitals then in this country then in prisons, considering all these people are claiming mental health issues!

This pos says that he had “anger issues” with both her and her children in the past, so although I applaud her reporting this (like she should), I can’t help question why she was with him. Call me crazy but if I was dating a man that had displayed “anger issues” to me (and God help him if he did tward my children because no man on earth could save him) I would leave. I vote for 99 years.

Crocodile tears! He’s sorry the little girl told on him, he’s sorry his girlfriend reported it to the police and he’s sorry he’s sitting in jail right now facing up to 99 years there. But he’s not sorry he did it.
Here’s a thought, why don’t we make a law that says if you attempt the “I don’t know what came over me” defense, you get an extra 10 years added to your sentence, 20 extra years if your “explanation” is particularly lame, like his.
I have a 2-year-old. You know what I do when he “throws a fit” and I feel like I’m losing my cool too? I walk away! Better to let him scream alone in his room for a few minutes than do something cruel, heartless and just plain stupid - like putting him in the clothes dryer - that I’ll regret for the rest of my life.

Ihavekidstoo-that’s a great idea, we should write our local governments and say add 10 years for bs excuses!
I think we all know that 2 year old can be trying. I told my husband I would have had lots of babies if we could skip the 2 - 4 year old stages! I think it is normal to lose your cool once in a while, but the key is being the adult and handling it correctly. It’s normal to walk away from them when they can’t be reasoned with, it’s another to come up with an idea to stick them in the dryer. WTF was he thinking? The little girl is lucky she’s still alive. If I remember correctly, some kids were playing in a public laundry mat a few years back and they locked a friend in a dryer and turned it on and then got scared they would get in trouble and left him there. By the time someone realized a child was in the dryer, it was too late and he died from lack of oxygen!
I hope this guy gets no less than 25 years!

Shel, you’re right - putting a kid in a dryer is stupid on soooo many levels. This little girl is lucky she “only” got burned. She could have suffocated like the kids you heard about, or even been tumbled so badly she suffered brain trauma.
I just don’t buy his “I don’t know what came over me” explanation. Seems like he’s trying to say he snapped and it all happened so suddenly he didn’t have time to think about it. OK, I don’t know about HIS 2-year-old, but if she is anything like mine she would have been screaming bloody murder as she was being stuffed into the dryer. I would think the terrified shrieking this kid probably made SHOULD have snapped him out of whatever mental fugue state he was in.
I wonder if we can find a dryer big enough to shove this P.O.S. into so he can see how it feels.

Oh my god! I can’t believe he thinks anyone will buy the ‘I don’t know what came over me’ defense. I agree with Ihavekidstoo, he is upset that everyone knows what a piece of crap he is. I also don’t believe that this is the first stunt he has pulled. I am impressed by the mother who put her kids over a man for for once. She listened to her daughter and didn’t hesitate. Thats motherly love.
If anyone is interested this actually happened in australia last year once again he wasn’t the childs father and once again didn’t immedietly fess up to what he had done. Read more here…http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,19311376-2,00.html

Terrible! That poor little girl. And I can’t imagine what her mom is going through! She probably wonders how many times he did things like that “just hoping she would forget by morning”. What a dumbass!!!! That poor little girl unfortunately probably won’t forget this for a very long time. He’s only sorry he got caught! And the mother must feel terrible knowing that this is someone she trusted with her child and he did something so terrible.

Can you imagine how afraid that little girl must have been? I am happy that he is in jail. I don’t give a rat’s ass about his tears. Screw him!
I am glad that the mother put her child first. Nothing is more vile to me than to hear about these sorry mothers who choose the abuser over their own kids. I never understood that and I am glad that in this case, the mother loved her child more. That’s how it should be.
