4-year-old girl tortured and slain
“It’s probably the worst case of abuse that any of us in hundreds of combined years in this unit have ever seen,” says Sgt. Joe Peterson of the Spokane Police Department. Seeing as poor little Four-year-old, Summer Lytle, suffered many excessive injuries such as beatings with belts, spoons, human bite marks and even burns from a dog’s shock collar, I’d have to agree with him.
Police reports and articles never really tell you what went on, but with human bites and dog shock collars… wtf!? What was going on there?
Child abuse investigators opened a case in October, for neglect, but found no cause for action. Were these investigators completely inept or is this abuse recent?
Court documents said Summer Lyte drowned one night in during her bath. Her step-mother had left her to cook the girl’s father an anniversary dinner.
Given the rest of what has happened to this girl, it makes me question the circumstances surrounding her drowning…

This poor girl was left in the bathtub to wash sheets that she had peed on, forced to stay in that cold, filthy water for ten hours before she drowned.
“Adriana Lytle told a detective the girl had urinated on towels and clothes so she placed the girl in the bathtub to clean those items. The parents told police they made the girl wash items from about 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, when Adriana Lytle pushed Summer with her foot “causing Summer to fall into the urine-filled water.”
“Later in the evening, while Summer was again washing items out in the tub, Adriana found her unresponsive in the water,” police records said. Both tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate her and Jonathan Lytle said he took Summer to Deaconess Medical Center, where she could not be revived.”

You oughta see the stepmothers web page on myspace. It’s under angeleyes0921. I swear the amount of really negative (well deserved of course) comments coming in is amazing, not only that but a memorial web page has been put up too on myspace for summer. Withing the first day of it being posted over 300 people had lit a candle for her. Sad!!! I hope the stepmother and the father never get their chance to do what they did to summer to their son. Bound to happen, after all from what I had heard the stepmothers own sister refused to let her come around her kids anymore cause she was abusing them as well.

Even more disturbing is this child was mentally challenged. The “difficulty” that the parents say they experienced with the child should have been expected and prepared for. I would love to get ahold of her dad or her stepmom and show them what it feels like to have a shock collar placed around their neck for “discipline”. This poor little girl probably had no idea why this was happening to her (not that there is a good reason for any of it to have happened to her). God, I start crying just thinking of the hell this poor child was put through and for her, this is how she thought life was SUPPOSED to be.

The father is just as bad at this “mother”.
He sat back and did nothing.
He had a smoke break instead of trying to help his daughter.
Both of them need to be hung and beat to death.
And the mothers myspace has been deleted but someone took her name to make a so called memorial to the little girl.
And the memorial page does nothing but spam my inbox with so called bulletins.

I just want to say that this story breaks my heart. This website has made me think twice before I even raise my voice to my beautiful daughter. I can’t imagine her going through what these kids have and do. In a way I have to thank these sick people because they have made me a better parent. It is very sad that this lesson had to come at the expense of innocent children. I will keep Summer and all of the others in my heart and I pray that someday we can figure out how to stop this from happening to anymore children.

I have gone to jail (overnight, once) for unpaid tickets before and it was the worst thing in my entire life…said I would never go back! HOWEVER, I would gladly go just to be able to have a little time with this sorry excuse for a woman-have a little one-on-one chat, y’know what I mean?
I absolutely HATE people that need to pick on (torture, abuse, belittle) little kids to make themselves feel better…I pray that they get the death penalty-especially her-I just know in my gut that she treated this little girl like this because she wasn’t hers.

I saw the myspace page as well. It’s amazing the amount of friends this woman had and none of them knew of the horror she put her kid through.
She just had a baby with Summer’s father (this wasn’t even *her* kid) and I hope that child is placed in a home that shows nothing but love and compassion.

Four-year-olds do NOT drown in the tub unless they are held under… I have a recently turned four year old. Children this age are big, cognizant, and independent. This child was MURDERED.
I say, let the punishment fit the crime.
Drown both the “parents”.

According to one article I read, Summer was kicked into the tub…as in, her stepmonster stuck her big fat foot on the child’s back and pushed her forcibly into the dirty water. She could have easily hit her head on the hard tub and been knocked senseless, then drowned. I myself was trying to figure out how she drowned. Oh, and let’s not forget, she WAS forced to be that bath for approximately 10 hours. Anyway you look at it…those monsters caused her death…and it was most definitely was murder.

the “real” mom is not involved are anywhere to be found according to an article i read. She dropped Summer off in Aug or Sept and she was only to stay for a month, no one has seen or heard from her since. Looks like they both played abuse charges against each other and then the mom skipped town. Sounds like 2 asshole parents and the only one that suffered is the kid as usual. she looks so sweet and happy in her little easter outfit….i hope the “drug addicted” stepmom and fuck ass dad die by drowning as well…..

That evil bitch Adrianna should get what is coming to her by the other inmates. But as usual the CO’s have to PROTECT HER FOR HER SAFETY. that is not right. She abused and tortured that child, the only thing that child was to her was the welfare check they got and as for the Daddy sounds like he sexually abused her as well. When the nurse would come by for their other spawn/welfare check, Daddy would take Summer out of the apt. so she could not see the abuse. That angel was abused since they day she go there, and her real mother is an asshole too.

Her real mother dumped her there in August and was in the wind, she didn’t give a shit either so I refuse to show her any empathy or sympathy. But you watch this bitch try to profit from her dead daughter in either a book deal or a Lifetimes movie. That poor child and the other thing that pissed me off was the neighbors. Not one soul called DHS or the cops but they hold a candle light vigil. Little too late for the concern you assholes! Trying to convince yourselves not to feel guilty? Her Mom diD not dump her there. SHE DID WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS BEST AT THE TIME.She would never have let Summer stay there if he could even have imagined something was going on. Yeah, she won’t win “mother of the year” but I knew her well enough to know she loved her daughter but due to drug/alchol problems she really was not looking out for Summer. SUMMER WAS NOT DEVELOPEMENTALLY DELAYED - SHE WAS DELAYED BY POOR PARENTING AND NEGLECT. Her Mom should have reached out. Rest in Peace Summer Phelps, I will never forget your endless questions of “why?’ Now we are all left to ask WHY THE HELL/HOW THE HELL could this happen.

Its so sad to hear about incidents like this. This poor girl never had a chance to see what life is supposed to be like. My parents took care of 30+ foster kids and adopted 6. Our family has seen some horrific cases but nothing like Summers case. My heart goes out to all the children who are living in nightmares.
As many commentors have said, this site makes me proud to be the kind of parent I am, loving and caring.
Something I wanted to add: there are many comments saying how a person would like to get ahold of these stupid parents and do unspeakable things to them. Please people, those kinds of things make you seem as heartless as these parents. God will punish these people.
Also remember: its up tp us to report child abuse, don’t be afraid to tell the authorities, this may save MANY lives.

It’s just unbelievable. How is it possible for a human being to do something like this to someone else? Reading these stories here makes going out of the house even more scary. Who knows who the guy standing next to you in the theatre for instance might be? No wonder we are getting so alienated day by day. Notifying the authorities immediately is probably the best thing anyone can do.
