Caught on Tape: Ray Hoffman launches son’s 11-year old opponent from ring
Ray Hoffman, part-time wrestling coach, intervened during his sons wrestling match, tossing his son’s 11-year old opponent into the air and off the mat a good 5 feet away.
Hoffman claims he was protecting his son and tells reporters his son’s opponent was using an illegal move, which could cause injury, to pin him.
Dean Bogess, another coach, disagreed saying the hammer lock hold was legal. I guess the same hold can be either legal or illegal depending upon the angle at which the arm is held.
Regardless, it sounds like the whistle had been blown and the match was in the process of being stopped as the father hurled this kid.
As a result of this event, Hoffman is no longer allowed to coach wrestling (no surprises there). He also told reporters he regrets his actions and is embarrassed. I’m sure this video being plastered all over the news on TV and the internet helped him come to that realization a little quicker.
Ray Hoffman might have been trying to protect his son, but who’s going to protect him now from the “Your dad is insane – I saw the video.” remarks he’s going to be hearing every day in school.

How was this guy not arrested for this? To launch another kid in the air the way he did is assault.

If you don’y like the call in football, are you going to storm the field and throw the refrees out of the game.
if you dont like the shot in basketball are you going to run out and throw Shaq down?
Just because the kid is, what 11, you can throw him around because your kid got pinned.
Come to Iowa state high school wrestling tournament and try that move, and see who gets thrown.
