Tammy Meredith Receives Jail Term for Piercing Friend’s 13-Year-Old Daughter’s Pubic Area
Just writing this makes me squeamish. Tammy Meredith, of Baton Rouge, La. will be going to jail for a year on aggravated child abuse charges for piercing the pubic area of a 13-year-old girl. She agreed to testify against the girl’s mother, who is charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse. The mother could face up to 30 years in state prison if convicted. (Mother and daughter aren’t being identified by the press because of the allegations of child abuse.)
The girl was sexually active with two adult men, one of whom is charged with sexual battery of a child age 12 to 15. After learning of the sexual activity, the mother had Meredith pierce the girl’s private area with a post and a connected hoop. The mother also altered the girl’s hair in an unusual way as a form of punishment.
According to the prosecuting attorney, the piercing couldn’t prevent sex.
The girl was removed from her mother’s custody and has a guardian ad litem, who said the girl is doing better. The mother is set for trial Feb. 19. She has pleaded innocent.
The mother’s attorney, Donald Day, said it’s debatable whether she committed child abuse. He said it’s more of a parental rights case involving a mother who was at her wit’s end. According to him, the ring made it difficult for the girl to have sex. He said, the mother had tried every other form of discipline, which didn’t work. He believes piercing a teen’s genital’s is akin to piercing a toddler’s ears, and that the piercing was like a chastity belt.
Soon he’ll be saying that female circumcision/genital mutilation is like getting a pedicure. What a jerk.

There are other methods besides this to deal with an out of control teenager, give me a freaking break. Those women are twisted.And most often (not always), these (really)out of control teenager’s behavior (not the typical annoying teenager behavior)can be traced back to some crappy parenting. A trail of Mom’s boyfriends,parental drug use, no supervision or limits, no giving a shit on the parents part on what the kids are doing or not doing–in school or out–, etc. If kids can’t get attention by getting straight A’s, they’ll find a way to get it somehow.

This is some crazy shit!!! If your 13 year old is being sexually active, you don’t peirce her private parts. you educate her about the risks of STDs, you take her to the doctor and get her checked up, and get her into some form of counselling, there are many other options apart from that!! And what’s up with the mother’s lawyer??? Anything to get that cash, eh? How can this lawyer say that this isn’t a form of abuse? I wonder if he’s done something this extreme to his own??

Dear parent, (using the term very loosely here.)
Instead of physically mutilating your child’s genitals, perhaps you could use the time tested method of “Being there for your child, and guiding them through some of the most confusing years of their life”. Is that some new age shit or what?! Actually parenting your child..I know it’s a hard concept to grasp. One wonders where YOU were while your 13 year old had the time and the opportunities to have sex with adult men. Come on, now, step up to the plate and be the protector a mother should be. Please consider this advice before you go and start piercing more body parts of your 13 year old CHILD.

What happened to ‘age of consent’? Why not have the person(s) having sex with the 13 year-old charged with statutory rape?

Right on, Katie.We were going to circ our son (I wasn’t crazy about it but Daddy was so I grudgingly agreed…)Then Daddy got a vasectomy 2 weeks before my due date (oowwee ouchee) and the circumcision was off, yippee.
