Nancy Dyer Does the Perp Walk
Here’s Nancy Dyer at her first court appearance. (Thanks, Sinthyia.) Dyer, you’ll recall, is the mom who was fast asleep while her toddler took a stroll on Indianapolis’ I-465. No big events at today’s court appearance, which was simply a bond hearing. The report does describe Dyer as “articulate”, which is not surprising given her MySpace page. This is not a stupid woman, folks; this is an intelligent woman who’s done stupid things.
Should she get her kids back? Obviously, that’s not up to me. But it is up to a judge, who can elect to convert the four Class D felony counts against her into Class A misdemeanors. I imagine you’ll see a deal involving time served, parenting classes, yada yada. My prediction is that she’ll have her kids back within a year of modeling good behavior. But I could be wrong.
What I would like to see is permanent custody reverting to their father (assuming his record is clean, naturally), with mom getting visitation. I don’t know what judge made the custody decision in that case, but obviously, he or she screwed the pooch.

Hmm.
I agree with your opinion (visitation, custody given to father if he is able physically and mentally to care for them), but I was wondering whether there was a mental condition behind the way she acted.
Obviously as an outsider I can only hazard, and many in the know more than I may well disagree, but could it be she was and is suffering from PPD?
If not, then I can’t comphrehend it. The neglect as it has been painted is astounding, and I feel heartily sorry for the children either way as they are innocents in all of this, but anyhow, it just occurred to me as I was reading your latest update that serious untreated depression might be behind it.

Frankly, given her general apathetic attitude and the fact that no mention of them is made on her MySpace page, I’m not at all certain that she even wants her kids back. It almost seems as if she views them as a burden and impediment to her lifestyle.

Well, the father is NOT a model figure. She doesn’t even know where he is. She is married, and the father of those 2 innocent children is not the man she is married to…he already has custody of 2 of her other children. The grandparents have the oldest child. The 6th child is still in the womb. Who is the father of that child…God pray for these children. This is a case where someone should strongly recommend a tubaligation.

This whole case makes me sick, I can’t imagine seeing a child walking down that busy road. Geez! The first thing she tells them was oh he got out again. ERRR. I’m glad to hear the kids were taken away but only makes me worry about when she gets out, plus this one in her womb. So sad. If the dad is a decent guy I hope he gets custody.

There is a family member taking care of the kids. They are in very good hands. Pray for the entire family. This has been a trial. No one in the mom’s personal life is capable to take care of the children, but there are very caring, loving people helping the children at this point. They are in the family. There is NO chance of the father getting the children. In Indiana, the law says ‘if you are married, then your husband is the father’. Well, she is married, but separated. That man is not the father, and does not want the children. He is already raising the two they had together. The actual father is a loser. He lives in Florida. As I said, many members and friends of the extended family are involved and taking action to make sure the children are happy and well taken care of. They have been to the doctor this week and are going to the dentist next week. They have a long way to go, but they are doing so well in only one week in the new environment.

According to that blog, her parents have the younger kids as well as her 15 year old. Good for those kids, mercy to the one not yet born if the poster above is correct and she is, indeed, again pregnant.

Well from what I heard this Mom isn’t that great. When the cops came and woke her up to tell her her son was missing and they found him she said “Oh he got out again” Totally nonchalantly.(Spelling?) Anyway the child also has autism, which I’m very familiar with, my child tries to run out of my house constantly, I keep the door locked like I’m paranoid, but only for him. Point is you can’t watch your kids and make sure they’re safe then you shouldn’t have them. Plus have you seen her myspace…..oH MY LORD, Stop Role Playing Online ANd Watch Your Kids!!!!!!!

Honestly she is a better parent then people are making her out to be. I have known her for a while and the two little ones are hell-raisers. Just the night before the apartment was spotless. She does role play, which is obvious from her myspace. However, she spends ample time away from the computer with her kids. 2 year olds do fling poo, or is that a rare sighting in the last 10 years?

These do-gooders have done nothing but bad. Had they not been on the forums of the net (spending as much if not more time then Nancy playing computer psycho) those kids would probably have been on the first thing smoking out of Indiana. Since family members have to decided to bash her in the limelight of the public, openly admit they knew all along she was a bad parent etc. She has now chosen to make them all suffer. She has opted to fight for the children. Sending the step-sister back to Germany, and these babies into a system that has a horrendous abuse and neglect record.

Alas, the father is not so clean. He is an admitted level three sex offender currently lcated in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unless you mean the father of the unborn child. He fled to Michigan. Maybe the father of her two older daughters. He has custody of them in Florida. Her father (who so happens to have custody of her first child) tried to help in this case, but she bit the hand the fed her and decided to have the children placed in foster care. So, 5 living children, one unborn child, three abortions and two miscarriages later, this woman still has not learned how to straighten up and keep her knees together.

Get Real. Anon said that her apartment was clean the night before. By whose standards? She had only lived there 3 weeks and it was filthy. Not even a sheet on the bed. Who owns a computer and computer desk and a tv, but no other furniture. Her children did not even get a bed. Feces, urine and trash were the only things in her apartment. And lots more than a days worth. Her family even tried to help her clean it. But did you see her video interview? A trash heap on the computer desk, smoking (yes, while pregnant), mountain dew (again, while pregnant). She claims no money, but in the 3 weeks living in Indiana, she recieved over 3600 in trust fund interest. She lies and lies and still there are people who will post sympathy for her here. Her family only went public online after she refused their help and refused to let them have the kids. Now they have nothing to lose. They don’t want Nancy to get the kids back. And they don’t want the kids in foster care, but to show they put the kids’ interest first, they willingly took the children to foster care after Nancy refused to terminate her rights. They had no choice. Nancy did and now her children suffer and our tax system will be burdened.

Again, if people had just left their fingers quiet instead of making Nancy’s postings (more) public, and her family spewing all this dirt about her all over the place, she very well may have left those kids in the care of her father to be turned over to the step-sister. She is playing devil’s advocate now and making everyone suffer by this charade she is now playing. I assume if I were in a similar situation the best way to hurt those you feel are hurting you is to do exactly what she has done, use the children once more as pawns in her game of life.
I wish you people would learn to read beyond your own judgemental attitudes. I have been bashed about any and almost any question and or statement I have made. Not one of them have been in support of the woman or her actions.

I truly wish those that advocate Nancy and her children harm would get a life. What’s wrong with this country is that there are those who instill their beliefs on others despite the personal and emotional harm done. The worst most demonic child abuse in this country is legal! It’s abortion or by another name “premeditated murder”. You Democrats she no problem with killing children.
Why not offer her and her children help. Do whatever you can to assist. This is a single mother with kids that need help. Who are we to say they should be raised by someone else. I see no evidence that she intentionally hurt her children. She didn’t hit them or abuse them. She simply needs someone to truly care for her and her situation. Carl Brizzi is an ass. If you walked into most homes on the near east side he’d be putting them all in jail. We have organizations that help families remain together - where are they Indianapolis?
