China Arnold: Accused Microwave Momma Indicted for Murder (UPDATED with Court Docs)
Did she or didn’t she? A jury will decide that question soon, as China Arnold has been indicted for aggravated murder after allegedly cramming her baby into a microwave. Defense attorney John Paul Rion believes there’s enough reasonable doubt to drive a truck through; he says he has the forensics to prove his client’s innocent. But the prosecution sounds equally cocksure: they’re aiming for the death penalty.
Judging by the last thread on this subject, a lot of visitors to PBB feel there may have been a different culprit. As noted in that last report, Arnold’s no prize of a mom, having been convicted for abduction and verbal forgery. But does that make her a baby-microwaver? I dunno. The state sounds overly confident about their odds of conviction, given that they’re trying this case a year after the murder. I’m holding judgment until the trial begins, and both sides lay their cards on the table.
UPDATE: Here are Arnold’s 2000 guilty plea, a copy of her 2002 conviction for check forgery, and a copy of the grand jury indictment in the death of her daughter, Paris Talley.

I myself am unsure of her guilt or innocence, but she does have three other older children that she has been raising its not like she is a first time mom or anything, she also did take the child the next day to the hospital after the child failed to respond, that in itself seems a strange thing to do if she had put her child in a microwave oven, apparently when she was told that her baby died by a microwave she appeared horrified by witness’s, unless she is a very good actor, that can be hard to pull off, plus there was a baby sitter looking after the children the evening before, also what about the babies father?
There are too many what-ifs here, especially since they are going for the death penalty as well.

I can imagine why she would take the child to the hospital. It suddenly hits her: Dear God, I just put my baby in a microwave and she’s not responding! Perhaps this is a job for a medical professional!
Of course, that paves the way for a temporary insanity defense, which would just be so wrong.

My brain cannot even process this. If there were some evidence that this woman was bi-polar or something it may make more sense…but Jesus Christ…a microwave??!! This whole thing is just beyond comprehension.

I worked for the defendant’s attorney many years ago, and from what I know of the attorney and his firm, the defendant is probably guilty as hell. This firm is well-known in the area for taking guilty defendants and playing sleazeball tactics, so long as they receive the cash up front.

This story isnt making any sense at all. Being that im a mother i can never believe any human being can do such a thing. Other sources stated she left the baby with a babysitter which is the alleged father’s sister. The mother and father were together in the house and they only arrest the mother. Sounds fishy to me. Thats why u should NEVAJUDGEOTHERS

It’s crazy what happened to this baby! I agree why wasn’t daddy dearest arrested? Why didn’t he accompany mom to the hospital? If he is such a stand up guy why is she his “baby momma” and not his wife? Things that make you go hmhmhmhmhm!

This story is strange to me…
I dont know if Ms. China did it or not.
Three weeks old is too young. At that age the majority of babies cant even roll over. Someone DID SOMETHING to that baby. And if it wasnt the mother, then she is at least guilty of neglect, cause at three weeks old, none of my babies were out of my site for a second. And I sure as hell would notice burns.
Just my opinion. Im very protective of my kids…i guess I just assume that other mothers are as well…

Agree with you there Melissa, now onto the topic at hand, in her own statement, China apparently was very drunk on the evening of her baby girls death, could she have carried the baby and the babys bottle to the microwave and in her drunken state of mind have put the wrong object into the microwave? rockdoll_71 who cares what u think her life is in the hands of people like u who dont know the facts. I’ve been tracking this story since day one and it has way too many loop holes to just blame the mother. Did you know that baby talley was left with a babysitter, which happens to be the babys aunt, the night she was murdered? China and the childs father went out for drinks that night which would have left the babysitter to care for the baby. Why wasnt the babysitter questioned? Nor was her house searched. Sounds real fishy. The childs father, Terrell Talley, was also there that night and only china gets arrested? Im trying to put the pieces togethor based on what I’ve researched. it just i can’t understand y both the babysitter and the father aren’t incarcerated as well. maybe they cooked up a story blaming china. But im a firm believer that whats done in the dark will come to light. im sure once all facts are heard by the jury china will be aquitted of all charges. she isnt pleading insanity like most moms on trial. she didnt take a plea bargain (which prosecutors offered 1-3 years when shes facing the death penalty, thats odd). she has 3 other children who are suffering right now because they havent seen their mom in almost a year. Now thats not fair. China hasnt hurt them in any way no child services was ever involved until the death of baby paris. and still the father terrell talley, and his sister (the babysitter) remains free. im sure theres more facts out there too. thats y u never judge others. china goes to trial January 28th 2008

Neverjudge, you are right. I am not the judge and for that, she should be grateful because if I were the judge, she would be dead, her and all child killers like her.
No, I didn’t know that she was left with a baby sitter. Why wasn’t she charged? The mother was charged. There had to be some evidence, right?
If she didn’t do it, then I hope it comes to light. If she did, she should fry.

Neverjudge, another thing, don’t come on here attacking people like me for their views when this is a forum to leave opinions. That’s all I have done. If you look above my name, there are plenty more opinions just like mine. Why single me out?

I agree NEVERJUDGE because in all honestly this is such a horrific crime, there was a lot of pressure on the dept to find her guilty, when actually there were two to three people around that baby that night. I just dont see China doing it, mabe it is because I have known her for like14 yrs, and know what kind of girl she was, but lets waight for the trial, and see before we judge her, remember she has not been convicted yet, theres always a possibility that new info may come to light and I am thinking of calling John Rion My self and telling him what I know to see if that may be of any concern to them. The police are not going to look for any one else, the dont want people to think they are unsure of who did it, I just hope that if she did do it, she gets what she gets, but if shes innocent, that god interveins and that they discover who the real sicko is!!!

I happen to know China Arnold personally, I knew her as a teen and in to her early adult life… I actually introduced China to her first childrens Father namend Steven of her two boys Sirus and Steven. I happen to know China as being a bit of a drama queen, but nothing more. China was never a violent individual as far as I knew. She and I did everything together, from swimming, sleepovers, haqnging at the Dayton mall looking for boys as do teens. I spent a lot of my child hood days with her, and happen to know that she was a loving outgoing, fun, smart, and PREPPY Westcarrolton girl. It wasnt untill she moved out on her own to Parkside that I started seeing her out in places hanging out Down town Dayton with some small crowds of friends, we spoke here and there but just wasnt the same… we eventually lost all contact for almost 8 or 9 years, and then one day I get a phone call saying from my best friend Jessica, (who is chinas first childs fathers cousine) that she was arrested for killing her baby, but at that time they did not know how the baby died for sure. Then she was released, and ended up going back once they put their case together. I remember shortly after her arrest, I happened to be on the date line and ended up meeting a man who happened to be in Parkside located in Dayton. We talked for a while and ended up talking about our lives and such, he sounded normal. any how, I talked ended up asking him if he had kids. He said, I had a Daughter. But she died. I said aw, I am so sorry, when did this happen? He said a few weeks ago… he did not talk about the incident like it just happened, nor did he seem to be mourning ofr is daughters death, laughing at something in the back ground, asking his friend to hand him a blunt… etc. he just seemed like he was talking about someone elses child otnher than his own, so I started to doubt him, then I dropped the subject and he began to offer me more info. He bagan to tell me that him and his girl had just had a fight about the baby, that they faught often about the baby, and he expressed to me that he didnt even belioeve tha baby was his because she was light and that he thought the baby ws bi racial and that he was dark complected. Then he also said that he doesnt know wht happened, that they had went out drinking annd the baby was at the sitter, then he said they faught all night, and that when they got home the baby was brought back asllep if i can remember right. and then he told me that he left back out after china passed out on the couch, and that when he left his baby was in the car seat and when he returned the baby ws on the couch or something, again this is what I recall, so dont quote me on this… but that he returned later and found the baby not breathing, and came to China and said, I dont know what happened! And they rushed the baby to the hosspital. Then I was thinking to my self ths story sounds familiar, ans so I asked him what happened to his baby he said I dont know I think she was burned! Then he said I am the one that was on the news, with China… that is when I made him aware that I had known China since we were young teens, and decided to end the conversation with him at that time, and never called him back, I think his name was Terrell, but I am not 100% for sure.

msunique28, thanks for telling us what you know. I hope that this woman didn’t do it and that they find whoever did. You have to be a monster to do something like that, especially to your own baby. I can’t imagine how horrible it is to die like that.
If you have anymore updates, I would be glad to know what they are. I do believe that innocent people are put in prison every day.
