Deadbeat Dad Owes $2.2 Million in Child Support Debt
Wow. Just…wow. How do you let things get so bad that you owe over $2 mil in child support? That’s the situation faced by East Brunswick, New Jersey dermatologist Dr. Sandy Milgraum, who was rounded up along with 41 other parents this week in a Middlesex County child support sting. Milgraum is apparently well to do (or used to be) owing to his surging popularity during the 1990s, leading to a large support judgment in favor of his seven children.
And, to add insult to injury: Milgraum, an Orthodox Jew, never consented to the divorce within his community, which rendered his wife an outcast. If you ever seen the film A Price above Rubies, you’ve seen a dramatization of this dynamic at play. Why the hell anyone would want to belong to a community that can outcast you on such chauvinistic grounds is beyond me. Still, this makes Milgraum a double-asshole - first, for cutting his wife off from her spiritual community, and second, for refusing to give even a red cent of his earnings to his seven kids.
Any bets on whether a million or two will mysteriously find their way back from foreign bank accounts after Milgraum sits in jail for a day? Or do you think that Father Knows Best here already spent most of his 1990s earnings on babes and blow?

I know both these people and not only is he the asshole you stated, but so is she. I hope he sits in jail and she gets nothing, they both deserve to be miserable.

I agree that witholding so much in child support is clearly a disgusting act that only targets one’s children. I have to disagree with you, however, that it is the wife without the religious divorce who is ostracized. As sexist as the system is, it is the man who refuses to grant the divorce, who is the one who gets ostracized in the community, according to Jewish law. His name is supposed to be made public in the papers, he is supposed to be refused honors in synagogogue, and one is not even supposed to greet him to say hello. The rabbis used to even physically punish men who refused to grant a divorce, although that is obviously not practiced anymore.

Dr milgraum is a great dr and also a very nice person.. There are 2 sides to every story.. His children are adults now and they should not be doing this !! how can they let their dad go to jail when he worked so hard to become a doctor. he gave them enough and i think his wife is being very greedy
he cleared up my skin and i need him to stay a dermotologist … there are no doctors around like him.
