Parents Behaving Badly

Deadbeat Dad Arrested for 17 Years of Non-Payment

by admin on October 22nd, 2006

MoneyYou know, stories involving non-payment of support don’t get me as riled as they used to. Between moms watching their babies die and dads slipping their kids rat poison, owing back child support seems like such a minor crime.

But of course, that’s the jaded blogger’s perspective. To a parent struggling to keep his or her financial head above water while raising a passel of children, timely support payments can make the difference between a healthful meal and a week’s worth of Bush’s baked beans. To Lisa Bolton of Mississippi, nonpayment is equivalent to child abuse. That’s why she’s spent the past 17 years tracking down Michael Dunn, the deadbeat father of her daughter Jillian.

Bolton doesn’t expect to get one red cent of the money her family is owed, now that her crusade has led to the arrest of the 50-year-old Dunn for his $36,000 tab. For her, what’s important is the message Dunn’s collaring sends to other deadbeats: cough up the dough, or bend over for the soap.

Agreed, Shane. I once looked at the statistics, and found that the stereotype of the “deadbeat dad” is misleading, to say the least.

What would you call it if two parents refused to buy food, clothing and other necessities for their children? A deadbeat parent is doing precisely that. The only reason you don’t see a crime is because one parent, the custodial parent is doing all the providing. If the custodial parent fails to provide for the child, it is called neglect. If the non-custodial parent fails to provide, it is called overdue on child support.

Mine has taken off to Florida. I filed a missing persons report on her and thats where they found her. She said she does not want anything to do with the kids anymore. She owes back child support now, and Chrysler Financial Services is looking for her because she quit paying on her car too. She is now supposedly a stripper at the Cheetah Strip club in Hallandale Beach Florida. She wants to be a model and an actress, I hope she makes it, so I can burn her ass for putting my kids through this crap.

    Really good point HSH.
It should be the equivalent of child abuse.

Welllllll, I’m glad to hear a MS gal(or guy) finally got someone to make an SOB pay! I live in MS and mine NEVER paid. I even got SupportKids.com after him and they took between 130 and 160 bucks from him every couple of weeks. Then after a year, they tell me ‘oh he has no job, no money, etc, etc’ and closed the case! BS!!!!!! Now mind you, this was BACK support that he hadn’t paid on since 1981 for 2 kids. I finally got almost a year of ‘back’ support in 2002-2003 @ that 130-160 crappy rate. Whoopee!! No interest, no penalties, no ass whooping as he surely needs! Yep, I’m talking bout you William Elliot Watson, cheap ass dirtbag. Never even came around to see the girls til the oldest had MY grandson. Now he’s always hanging around my children and grandchildren, like he never did anything wrong. Has the kids convinced the child support is THEIR money and why should I have it? Good grief! We nearly went nuts together (me and the kids), trying to keep a roof over our head and food on the table. But MAMA and GRANDMA went out and earned the money to take care of them. Now mama and grandma don’t have a pot to piss in since we never got to save a DIME. Add that to Katrina blowing our home and everything in it away and you’ve got a MESS!!

Am I bitter? Nope, I go through my life smiling and making people laugh. Just the thought of him makes me wanna throw up!

Thanks for the story that a mother did get some help.

My Ex (Kenneth Williams) has not paid hardly anything in almost eight years! He owes back support of almost $48,000.00. I live in a different State, so I think the people(Child Support Enforcement) that are supposed to working on this are un-concerned Here’s the problem, he has been basically in the same place this whole time. The law knows exactly where he is because when he gets in some other trouble or owes the courts for something they are on him!!!!!!

Shane, First let me say that it takes a real man to step up and take care of his children. You sir qualify as a good man. Next, I believe you said your ex was in Florida, right? Well, my brother-in-law pays child support for his daughter in Florida (truth is my sister writes out the check every month on time). If she wasn’t so vigilant the state would revoke his drivers license, take his property (including cars and homes), and dock his pay to get the support from him. Also, I know that the federal government will take her tax refund check and give you the money for unpaid child support, because my mother is still paying my father child support from her tax refunds (meanwhile her two children are grown with spouses and 5 children between us, so they might be a little slow). Good luck.

Since we are putting DBD’s(dead beat dads/donors on blast)……Lawrence David Tibbs dob 03/2?/1947. Healthy vietnam vet! Sent our mom 150.00 a month for two kids starting when I (who is the youngest) was 16 years old. Then he had the nerve to say to my sister and I (she has a different mom. actually there are 3 girls all born in 1971!) that he should’ve told our moms to abort us! That did wonders for my self esteam. My mom struggled alot! I went to 22 different schools! Thanks dad! Thankfully after the crazy teens years and early 20’s ( i had lots of issues) I am normal settled, happy and healthy! Thanks MOM! YOU ARE THE BEST BABE!!!!!

If you see/know Larry Tibbs tell him…..don’t say anything just whoop him! find the biggest leather strap and whoop his butt! Then let him be hungry for a couple days. I mean we ate and all but sometimes it was once a day. So just whoop him if you see him! and if you can make him send my mom HER money! I don’t want it. JERK! ok I vented now I’m over it!
