Mom Tried to Hock Son for Wedding Gown
I have my own lovely wife Kim to thank for this one. 31-year-old Marcy Gant of Davenport, Iowa looks like a normal-enough mom at first glance. But, according to police, beneath that cherubic face beats the heart of a flesh-broker. Apparently, Gant was so hot to pick up a nice wedding dress from a street vendor that she twice offered to give the vendor her four-year-old son as collateral.
“Oh no she didn’t!” Oh, yes. Yes, she did. I guess she had already hocked her ring and her guitar, so she had to make a desparation move. Damn. I mean, whatever happened to selling your own blood? And how nice does a wedding dress have to be to make something think, “That’s such a great dress that I’d trade my own flesh-and-blood for it”? It sure makes “giving your eye teeth” for something look lame in comparison.
What I want to know is, who was this breadwinner she was planning to marry? The report doesn’t mention this at all - only that Gant had two children, ages 4 and 10. I’m thinking that this guy might have gently hinted that he’d love her more if she didn’t have her two snot-nosed kids running around. Gant, being pressed for time, decided to kill two birds with one stone. Sadly for Gant, it’s much harder to give away a 10-year-old.
I’ll bet that the older kid never lets his brother live that one down. “When you were 4, mom tried to give you away, because she didn’t love you. She only loves me. Nyah, nyah.” Though, maybe not. Gant has since lost custody of both boys, and the odds that she’ll ever see them again are slim to none: she faces 10 years in prison on felony charges of human trafficking and being an unfeeling bitch. And yes, I only wish that second one were a crime.

My children are the most precious things in the entire world to me. I don’t understand how someone could be such a shit!
I would cut off my own arm if it meant my kids would be safe. I would lay on body on top of my kids to shield them if someone was shooting at us. I would throw myself onto a bomb about to blow up and tell my kids to duck for cover, if it meant even the possibility of my kids surviving it. I would do anything for my kids. And if my husband and I ever divorced, and I met a guy I liked, and he told me to get rid of the kids because he didn’t want them running around, I would break up with his ass faster than he could try to apologize.
