Accused Kidnapper’s Mom Arrested for Helping Son Elude Justice
Oh good God. Here’s a story with DOUBLE parents behaving badly nested inside of it like Russian dolls. Ginger Nell Cobb of Camden, South Carolina has been arrested on charges of helping her son, accused kidnapper and all-around deranged fiend Vinson Filyaw, evade capture. Filyaw’s wife was also arrested after police learned that she and Cobb were funnelling supplies to the criminal sex offender, who used an elaborate underground network of bunkers to remain hidden away from the long arm of the law. Filyaw is the bastard who kidnapped a 14-year-old girl recently and kept her hidden in a hole; he was previously wanted for assaulting a 12-year-old girl in her home.
Think that’s a bad enough PBB story? It gets worse. While recounting the story of the assaulted 12-year-old, the Associated Press notes that the girl told her mother about the sexual assault, but that "nothing happened" until the girl told a guidance counselor at school. You mean to say that this girl told her mother she’d been victimized…and the mother did nothing about it?! What the hell? Would reporting to the police have interfered with mom’s nail appointment? Or perhaps her daughter had the misfortune to interrupt her enjoyment of Jerry Springer time? ("Shut yer jibberin’ about sex abuse! Can’t you see I’m watching this bit about the guy who’s cheating on his girlfriend with her transsexual teen sister?!")
Damn, the Parenting Hall of Shame grows larger by the day…
