Dad Abandons Son in Car to Go Drinking
My stepdaughter was in a horse show in upstate New York about eight years ago. Three-quarters of the way through, a car barreled through the audience, sending at least one spectator flying through the air. What had happened? A teenage girl (pre-driving age) had taken her parents’ keys and turned on the vehicle to sit in the A/C; somehow, she accidentally put the car into drive. Thankfully, no one was severely injured.
We should give equal thanks that no tragedies emanated from this case in Brownsville, Texas. This time, the child in the car wasn’t a teen, but a four-year-old who had no business being by himself. So why did Leobardo Bello leave his kid alone in a running vehicle? To go get drunk, of course! Bello took a page out of the Jibrib Ali textbook and left his boy with a plate of chicken wings while daddy hit the sauce. Bello is now in jail on abandonment charges for this little stunt.
I can have a speck of compassion for people who leave their kids in the sweltering heat of a locked vehicle all day. They’re tragic and preventable, but don’t generally involve malice. What Bello did, by contrast, was just plain dumb.

Obviously his son didn’t mean very much to him. I would like to know what has happened since then. I hope that this POS is at least still in jail. His son could have seriously been hurt or could have been taken by someone. What an idiot that guy is!
