Bank Robbing Ex-Marine Turned In - by His Sons

Sigh. And here I was, ready to proclaim the day after Christmas a Parent Behaving Badly-Free Day. But alas, it was not to be. We can thank today’s news item on ex-Marine William Alfred Ginglen, who taught his kids the values of honesty and a hard day’s work. Those lessons may have saved Ginglen’s soul: his sons turned the 64-year-old in when they found out he was responsible for a string of small-town bank robberies. Jared Ginglen, a police officer, tipped off his brothers when he recognized his father in a surveilliance photo posted on the Web. Authorities say Ginglen the Elder was leading a secret life that included adultery, drugs, and prostitution.

Mind you, this life lesson will be pretty hard on Ganglen’s body, as dad now faces a prison term that could see him die in jail. What can we say? Redemption’s a bitch. Kudos to these “kids”. They may have just given their dad back the last few years of his life - even if he does spend them in a jail cell.
