Joseph Smith Convicted Of Kidnapping, Rape, and Murder Of 11-Year-Old Girl
No, not THAT Joseph Smith (sorry, Jon Krakauer). THIS Joseph Smith, the sick bastard who, in 2004, was caught on tape as he abducted Carlie Brucia.
This evidence, along with DNA samples, and, oh yeah, Smith’s confession, led to a fairly abupt conclusion to the trial. Smith tried to explain away his crime by saying that he was “high on drugs”, “it was an accident”, and “I found a bunch of Golden Plates buried by the Angel Moroni and THEY told me to do it”. Possibly sparing himself a seat in Hell, Smith’s attorney threw in the towel and waived his right to make a closing statement (yes, trial lawyers can do this - the legal term for this tactic is cryin unclus). Smith, a father of three (just one wife, though, unlike the other guy), faces the death penalty. (The CNN/AP article, titled “Conviction in taped abduction case”, leads off with “Joseph Smith was found guilty…” But then, as you scroll down, it reads, “If convicted, he may face the death penalty.” Sounds like someone needs a new editor. I’m sending in my resume.)

They should charge the judge who let him out after attempting to abduct a girl a few years before this.

I can’t imagine the horror of being that monster’s kids. I hope the bastard gets the death penalty.

I hear that if he gets the death penalty, it may well be overturned because his counsel didn’t present a closing argument (and he could claim he wasn’t properly defended).
What a ripoff of taxpayer dollars. He should fry.
