Paging Doctor Munchausen: Woman Injects Kids with Infected Blood

When some women feel their husbands are neglecting them, they try to get attention somewhere else. Some have affairs. Or go to therapy. Or write to Ann Landers. Debra Diaz doesn’t seem to be one of those women.

Authorities say that Diaz injected her three young children with infected blood so that she could get attention from hospital staff. Diaz had had a blood infection earlier this year and had hypodermic needles from the antibiotics she received. It appears that she kept the needles along with some of her infected blood and repeatedly injected it into her sons, aged 4, 2, and 1.

After a few visits to the hospital, doctors became suspicious that all three boys would have the same reactions to mosquito bites. Diaz is currently in custody.
