Andrea Yates To Get New Trial
Hang on a second while I enter my fortified bunker. OK. Now. As readers of this site will know, I’m all about executing parents who abuse and/or kill their kids. In the nastiest ways possible. Draw and quarter ‘em, says I. HOWEVER…I don’t think Mrs. Yates deserves that. Far from it. During the original trial, we learned all kinds of fun facts about Mr. Yates. Forcing her to continue to have kids when it was clear that she was suffering from post-partum depression (yeah, Tom Cruise, I know that all Andrea needed to do was exercise and take her vitamins), while at the same time admitting that prior to his fourth kid he had never changed a diaper.
Does this excuse Andrea? No. But it does raise the question of his involvement and his responsiblity as a parent and a husband. I think I’ll side with noted parenting expert Ozzy Osbourne on this one.

Ever seen the law and order episode in which a very depressed woman traumatized by her husbands forcing the role of perfect mother on her- decides to put a bomb in her car and attempt to kill her kids and herself? I believe the husband ends up taking a fall for something.
It is Yates- without the water.

I think the father should be charged as well, for reckless endangerment by leaving his kids with who he knew was a very sick woman.

As someone who suffers from SEVERE PPD, I feel for this woman. She couldn’t get out of the hole she was in. NO ONE helped her, and now she’s taking all the blame.

It’s sickening that Yates was so intent on being a prolific prize stud that he was oblivious to the severity of his wife’s illness. No, that doesn’t excuse Mrs. Yates but Mr. Y. should certainly bear some of the responsibility.

She may belong in a safe place for the rest of the life; I don’t know but anywhere but TX, this wouldn’t have happened.
I know quite a bit about the guy from the religious right who was influencing him, and in turn, her. He’s frightening.

I’m disgusted with the legal system that doesn’t even look into prosecuting him. She’s sick, she needs help but he is EVIL!

Im pretty sure that common sense lets us know that Andrea is sick rather than evil. I dont know that self-righteous blindness deserves to be punished by death, but he should have definatly served time and she should be in an institution. I hope for Andrea’s sake that she never comes out of her depresion enough to feel what she has done, because then she would surely kill herself.

I’m sorry, I think that on somepoints many of you are wrong. While I do agree that Andrea was very sick, if she knew it was a crime to drown her kids, she is still guilty. From all accounts Russell is a bad father, worse husband, and a first class douche bag(I mean, even Ozzy thinks he’s a rotten dad). Moraly and ethicly he’s just as guilty as his wife. Legally, though, being a bad father, worse husband, and a first class douche bag are not criminal offences. Just my opinon.

Allowing his very ill wife to care for five very young children SHOULD be a criminal offense, hence “reckless endangerment”.
There is no way that he really, truly thought that she was capable of keeping those kids safe.

If you’re THAT sick with PPD, you don’t necessarily know it’s wrong…or you do, but not in the same sense that others do…
there comes a point where accountability needs to mean something…

Irecentlly read up on this if you go to his site yateskids.com,he talks of all the wrongs of everyone but his!I read where he has a chart on the book that was wrote,he list every wrong wording,wrong theory by one word off!Even says the word
‘Damnit’ shouldn’t be used!I was so sick of his perfect way in the hour I spent reading his b/s.If you watch the video’s of the kids and her they were well behaived,she was always soft speaking and loving.The kids each had alot of videos of each,besides baby Mary which still was young!She played a piano at 10 weeks old!I wrote him a letter and told him I owe his wife an apology!I hated and judged her!I dont feel like the same woman had those babies killed those babies!Her friend offered to shower her at one point because she was stinking dirty out of it!The husband said he and his mother would do that for her that nite!I told him if he wanted to redeem himself start taken some responsibilty in what happened!You pressured her for 6boys/1girl,she breast fed first 3 as long as he wanted upset only 4 monthes last to that alone wore her body and mental down,19century domination,why exactlly did you keep putting babies in her belly when she was overwhelmed?Home schooling ontop of everything else and usually when you have first kid lots pics,video’s.Second less and third child when is there time?She had full updated supply of each!Russell never replied shit rolls down hill!

sorry about spelling!Im a truck driver road was bumpy and this whole deal pisses me off!I’m from Texas and they need to send a message to these men,”If you choose a wife and she kills your babies out of insanity,you both are tried for indangerment to a child!”Maybe that shit would stop this trend!He works for NASA,they didn’t smell something,no wonder they cant get these billions of dollars into space!!Happy THanksgiving!
