Parents Behaving Badly

“Mother of the Year” accused of restraining children

by Nicole on October 26th, 2005

lockeddoor.jpgMy tip of the week: if you have to bully your daughter into voting for you as Mother of the Year, you don’t deserve to be Mother of the Year.

Then again, that’s about the mildest thing the children of David and Linda Garleigh are alleging their parents did to them. The couple, who have adopted six children, some of whom are adults, are accused of tying their children to their beds or to chairs and locking them in their rooms for extended periods of time. In one case, a son says he was forced to hold a chair over his head for hours and was disciplined for dropping it at any point.

Caseworkers also noted that there was evidence of multiple locks on the doors to the childrens’ rooms, although the kids say their parents removed them whenever CPS had a scheduled visit. The children are now living with other families, none of whom believe that bedroom doors should have more locks than my Aunt Melanie’s apartment door in Brooklyn.

This is the same state of Texas that is refusing to let gays adopt kids? Beating them on the feet and locking them up is okay though.

Sounds to me like the hazing Russian army guys go through.

I personally think that homosexuals should not be able to adopt. Their perverse nature is reason enough to deny them custody in my book.

This lady is psycho. I am her daughter. I am
amazed to find this on the internet. My name is
Sarah Makayla Garleigh. I was adopted by them.
This shows how good CPS takes care of us. I am
moving to arkansas. My sister went several times
to school counselors and CPS, but none of them helped.
Finally, she went to the police.
