Woman Pleads Guilty to Leaving Kids Cold
Wendy Renard, 35, plead guilty to leaving her four young children alone in a cold house for two days in December 2003. She was sentenced to 20 days in jail and two years of probation Thursday. I can only hope that the jail operator has the same philosophy about heating rooms that she had.
While on probation, Renard must complete parenting classes. I’m not sure why she needs to — after all, when she left her children alone, she called her neighbor and left messages with him to give to her kids. And she obviously raised them right. The 7-year-old boy stayed home from school to watch his 4-year-old and 10-month-old sisters. Because the oldest sister, who was nine, was at school. Someone had to bring home the bacon in this family!
And she left food for them, too! Deputies found “a few baby crackers, three eggs, a partially used bag of dry cereal and a few canned goods in the home.” If that doesn’t feed a family of four for a few days, I don’t know what does!
