22 Year Old Man’s Child Bride Has Baby; Nebraska AG Prosecutes
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning is not amused by Matthew Koso. The 22-year-old obtained permission from his then-13-year-old girlfriend’s mother to take her to Kansas to wed. Under Kansas law, a minor can marry if the union is approved by the parents or by a judge. But Bruning doesn’t give a damn if the marriage is valid - and he’s not being held at bay bythe fact that Koso and his child bride are now proud parents of a baby girl. Koso plans to plead not guilty to sexual assault against a minor, a charge which could earn him - yikes - up to 50 years in prison.
What to think? Parent behaving badly - or a case of true love? The 8-year age difference between the two isn’t huge. But, come on. If this is “true love”, mom and dad could have waited four years until she was of age. This girl has had at best a handful of relationships; she’s in no position to make a lifelong commitment. And while I hate it when others stigmatize teen pregnancy, I can’t see the sense in planning to have a kid when you’re 14. This girl has a life to live, and plenty of time in which to get married and have kids. Now’s the time to establish her own self-identity. And what the hell is her own mother doing agreeing to all of this?

Probably more like a case of ‘parents too intimidated by their daughter’ and too scared to discipline her for the first 13 years of her life.
But what do I know, I only have a four year old boy but so help me if he’s 22 an impregnates a 13 year old I’ll still kick his ass.
