Swazi King’s Daughter Whipped for Loud Music
Bad Father Point #1: King Mswati of Swaziland is neck-deep in a patriarchal ritual wherein 50,000 bare-breasted virgins are striving to become his 13th wife. Yes, what a great way to build self-esteem in young women. And a wonderful example to set for one’s daughters to boot.
Bad Father Point #2: The king’s own daughter, Princess Sikhanyiso, was allegedly whipped by a palace official during one of these who-wants-to-screw-the-king ceremonies…for the crime of playing music too loudly. The official denies it, and it’s not clear that her father ordered the assault or had any direct involvement. But what do you expect in a society where women are treated like sexual chattel for the monarch?

In my family, we save whipping for the major offenses - like putting the milk jug back with only a swallow of milk left.

Heh. I lived in Swaziland directly after the last King, Sobhuza II died. He had over 100 wives and 500 children.
