ERIC CLAPTON is devastated he will never know his natural father - because his mother has taken the secret of his identity to her grave.The LAYLA singer was raised by his grandparents and grew up believing his real mother PATRICIA was his sister.
He questioned her in 1997 over rumours his father was TED FRIAR, a Canadian ex-serviceman who died in 1985, but was left disappointed when she refused to give a full answer.
Damn. Even Mike Leigh couldn’t come up with something that twisted. (And yes, this category is named in honor of Leigh’s film. If you haven’t see Secrets & Lies, go rent it.)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think there was a similar sort of “mystery” as to Ted Bundy’s parentage, and we all know what became of him. What a world this is!

Perhaps Mr. Clapton should contact Jack Nicholson and for a support group. Mr. Nicholson found out when he was in his 30s that the woman he thought was his grandmother Ethel was actually his mother and that the womana he knew as his mother was really his older sister.
